Clinician-developed mobile app puts hundreds of short, searchable dementia education videos at the fingertips of family caregivers and health care professionals.

CORBIN, Ky., Nov. 2, 2026 — Be Light Care Consulting today announced the official launch of the Dementia Care App, a mobile resource designed to make evidence-based dementia education easier to access, search and revisit for family caregivers and health care professionals.

Developed by licensed speech-language pathologist and nationally recognized dementia educator Adria Thompson, M.A., CCC-SLP, the app brings together hundreds of short educational videos addressing common dementia care challenges, including communication, personal care, safety, eating and daily activities. Most videos are three minutes or less, providing focused, practical education that caregivers can access on demand.

The Dementia Care App is now available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Making Dementia Education More Accessible

For individuals caring for someone living with dementia, understanding changes in communication, behavior and daily functioning is essential to providing compassionate, person-centered care. Yet finding relevant, trustworthy education can be challenging, particularly when caregivers are navigating unfamiliar situations.

The Dementia Care App addresses this need by organizing practical dementia education into a searchable digital library. Users can search for specific care challenges, explore topics by category and save videos to revisit as their needs change.

“Dementia care is about understanding the person, not just the challenge in front of you,” Thompson said. “When caregivers better understand why something is happening, they can adapt their approach with more confidence and compassion. I wanted to make that kind of practical education easier to find and revisit.”

The app includes educational content on communication, bathing, dressing, toileting, eating and drinking, safety, movement, engagement and other everyday care situations. New videos will be added weekly, expanding the library of practical resources available to users.

Developed From Clinical Expertise and Caregiver Feedback

Thompson brings more than a decade of clinical experience to Be Light Care Consulting. She is a licensed speech-language pathologist, Certified Dementia Practitioner, Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional and faculty member at Eastern Kentucky University.

Since beginning her online dementia education efforts in 2021, Thompson has built a community of more than 750,000 followers across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. Her short educational videos have helped caregivers better understand dementia and explore practical approaches to everyday care.

As that library expanded, Thompson repeatedly heard from caregivers who remembered seeing a helpful video but struggled to locate it again when they needed the information.

The Dementia Care App was developed in response to that feedback, creating a more organized and accessible experience for finding, saving and revisiting educational content.

In 2025, Thompson received a $100,000 investment through Maude's Ventures, an initiative of The Ferry Foundation that supports innovations intended to improve the lives of people living with dementia and their care partners. The investment supported development of the app and its mission to expand access to practical dementia education.

The Dementia Care App is designed for anyone supporting a person living with dementia, from family members providing care at home to professionals working in senior living, memory care, home health, hospice and other care settings.

By delivering education through brief, targeted videos, the app allows caregivers to explore specific topics without committing to lengthy lessons. Its searchable format makes it easier to return to relevant information and continue learning as care needs evolve.

The app complements professional training, clinical guidance and individualized care planning. It is not intended to replace medical advice or professional judgment.

The Dementia Care App is available now for iOS and Android devices.

The app is free to download and includes access to 10 free educational videos. Users can subscribe for $9.99 per month to receive unlimited access to the video library, including new educational content added weekly.
